“Guide to spending under $200 for a weekend in Miami”

Accommodations: The hostel $20/Night

Im going to be leaving the country in less then a month and I thought I would try out a hostel for the first time ever. I wanted to Celebrate my success of 2018, so I booked a night stay at a hostel (Saturday til Sunday) on South Beach Miami. When I first pulled up and saw the building I was nervous. I walked in and everyone was nice and welcoming (Don’t judge a book by its cover). I was waiting in the lobby to check in and a young lady from Cananda started to talk to me. I explained to her it was my first time and I was nervous and she said it was her first time as well. That really BROKE the ice! The front desk host then arrived and put us in the same room. I booked a 6 bed hostel. If your unfamiliar with hostels, they are shared rooms with other travelers. This hostel was literally 2 blocks from ocean drive on Miami South Beach.

These were our accomadations. All 3 bottom bunks were taken and I had to choose a top bunk. I hadn’t slept in bunk beds since I was a little girl, but I wanted to experience what the next few months of my life would be like. When I walked in the room I was greeted by a young lady from Pennesylvania. She was very welcoming and explained, it was her first time as well. Lastly, a young women who had been traveling for 6 months from Argentina walked in to share the space as well. It turned out to only be 4 of us staying the night.Instantly we all connected and embraced the fact that we were all staying in the same room. I enjoyed the experience because I was meeting more like minded people. People who enjoyed travel, freedom and flexibility!

Food: $15

The Hostel offered breakfast and dinner for free!!!! That was a huge plus because food can get pricey in Miami. I ate at the hostel and had one meal out from IHOP that cost me less then $15.

Entertainment : The Hostel Party Bus Tour $20

When I checked in the hostel the Front Desk host explained there was a list to get on the party bus for $20 that Saturday night. I then called a friend who I went to college with, who lived in the area to see if he would like to attend as well. He said Yes, he had never been on a party bus before! I signed us up. The host explained their would be a gathering in the lobby around 10pm and the bus would leave at 11pm. We met people from around the world in the lobby gathering (pretty cool). We also got free drinks during the gathering, and free drinks for an hour at the club “Club Space.” A Club that’s opened 24hours!!! We had a BLAST in the party bus ride, and a great time at the club!!! Much needed stress reliever.

Captain Jimmys Rich Homes Boat Tour : $16

After the fun night out, the next morning I went onto Groupon and booked a day cruise. It only cost me $16 dollars for a 2 1/2 hour boat cruise. When I arrived at Bayside Marketplace (pier where the boats were docked). There was a live band playing in the center of the pier. I absolutely lived it! I boarded the boat at 12:30pm and we toured Star Island where all the Rich Celeberties have homes like Gloria Estephan, Ricky Martin and P Diddy lived. It gave me something to hope for and look towards in the future. After the boat tour, I stopped at some the gift shops and food vendors located on the pier. Lastly, I took a walk downtown and looked at some of the luxury condos.

Transportation : Lyft $20

I paid for a lyft to and from the boat tour. I also paid for a lyft from Club Space. The party bus doesn’t bring you back to the hostel because it would be pretty tough to gather everyone and the club is open 24 hours, so some may stay longer then others. I also took a lyft to IHOP. All these rides totaled about $20.

Parking: 7th street parking garage all day parking for $20

There was no parking spots at the hostel. Most people who stay at hostels are backpackers who are traveling for a short stay and don’t need vehicles. I had to park at the 7th street garage (which was $20 for the day). Few blocks away from the hostel. I liked the fact that the garage had security.

Gas: $40 roundtrip from Tampa to Miami and back.

I spent a Saturday and Sunday in Miami for under $200!!! I am a budget traveler and you can do it to!!! Awesome Weekend Away!!!
