**Black Women Living in Asia**

Yes it’s TRUE!!! There are Black women who live in Asia!!!! When I first decided to go on my journey overseas for 9 months I didn’t realize there were so many Black women expats in Asia. A expat is a person who lives and work in a foreign country.I told a friend of mine that I was relocating overseas and she connected me with a friend of hers who has a meet up group for Blacks that live in Chaingmai, Thailand. How ironic I was going to Chaing Mai to take my TEFL course for 30 days. She sent me his contact information and he was so nice and welcoming. He invited me out to a few events the group was having.

The first event I attended was a bowling event in Chaing Mai. I met alot of cool people. Some people were digital nomads. Digital nomads are people who go from country to country working online(anywhere business).Some of the other black professionals were teachers and others were black folks just passing through for travel. It was a great bowling mixer event.

The next event I attended was at what was called the “Healing House” the host of the meet up group would have people over and they would all sit on the carpet and have conversations with each other. It was a hip place where people would just relax and get to know each other. That day I found out I was being overcharged by the local transportation shuttle. The ladies informed me of this. I asked the shuttle driver how much was the ride he said 120 baht. I gave him the 120 baht ($3.50) and he was so excited!!! I honestly didn’t understand the excitement because it’s what he asked me to pay him. Needless to say the ride was only suppose to be 30 baht ($1.00) and he got over on me. Funny thing is every shuttle I saw after that had a 30 baht sign at the top lol.

The last event I went to was a open mic. It was focused on people being able to express themselves freely through spoken word, song, dance, poetry, and instruments. The vibe was very relaxed. The event was located on a rooftop at one of the local hostels. There was a bar there and about 100 people sitting watching the performances. Great vibe !

After I finished my TEFL course I relocated to Bangkok. Their is huge expat group of Blacks in Bangkok. It’s a group of about 400. Since I’ve been here they have hosted numerous events. From a Black and Gold Party (where everyone wears black and gold), all white party, Yoga classes and I attended the Financial seminar about investing in Bitcoin. I’m all about learning new ways to grow money. During these events you meet different people and exchange information. I’ve been able to hang out with a few of the ladies that I met at some of the events. It’s nice meeting other black women because you have someone else who can relate to you. You can also explore the country and problem solve together.

I plan to attend more events in the near future.So to answer most people questions. Are their black people who live in Asia? Yes, and their all pretty dope! Taking a chance to step out on faith and leave your home country is very courageous and I’m happy to see more black people not just accepting the life that was giving to them but creating the life they desire!!!!!
