“A Day Of Discovery”

Today’s adventure consisted of having some fun!!!! We wanted to do some sightseeing and local culture tours today. We caught a tuk tuk (which are local taxis) to long neck village and to the monkey school. The ride to both tours cost us 400 baht. We were so excited to get a deal like that we jumped on it!!!! The day before we asked a tuk tuk driver to take us to the same locations he said 1000 baht.

We arrived to Long neck village and the price was 500 baht. We thought the price was included in the ride at least that’s what the tuk tuk driver made it seem, but it wasn’t. Make sure you ask tons of questions when you are going on tours about what’s included in the pricing etc. Lesson learned. Long neck tribe was very interesting to me. I don’t fully understand the story of the long necks, but what I do know is they are entrepreneur women (selling various products) trying to make a living to feed there families. Long necks were rings around their necks to make it seem as if their necks are long. If your in Thailand support the long neck tribe and visit their village.

After, we headed to the monkey school where we were able to see a monkey show and feed the monkeys. The cost was 200 baht. If you like to be entertained or have children. This is the perfect show for you!!! The monkeys play basketball, ride bikes and do a ton of tricks. I was chosen to get on stage for one of the tricks. It was hilariuos!!! They tied my hands together with rope, told me to sit still and the monkey untied the rope to let my hands free. I thought it was pretty cool!!! Great Show!!!

Later that evening we met up with a black people who live in Asia meet up group. It was an amazing time. We got to speak with other black women who are living in Asia. They gave us tips on living in Asia as a Black Women. What I gathered from the group is to be relaxed and be yourself. The world has a distorted view of Blacks and if you be the kind loving person you are people will be more open to embracing you and your culture differences. As Black women we have the Oppurtunity to change the minds of others about stereotypes they may see in the media to a more positive view point. All in all today was a great day!!! GOD is good!!!
